Expressions West 2015 Exhibition at Coos Art Museum

My painting, Yellow Tree Waterfall, has been selected for the Expressions West 2015 Exhibition at the Coos Art Museum by juror Brian Hoover.  He chose 61 paintings from 44 artists residing in California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, New Mexico, Montana, Oregon and Washington.  To see a complete list of selected artists go to http://www.coastarts.org/events/2015/06/expressions-west-2015-exhibition-at-coos-art-museum/.  The awards ceremony begins at 6:00 pm at the Coos Art Museum Friday, April 24.

“Advanced Techniques for Painting Watercolor on Yupo Paper” Class at the Coos Art Museum

Sharpen your watercolor skills at Coos Art Museum on Tuesday, September 30, 2014 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.Whether you need to loosen up or get control, Advanced Techniques for Painting Watercolor on Yupo Paper will help you move beyond that place where your picture is just not becoming a painting. An interactive time is planned with Pat Cink.  She will demonstrate some of her own ways of working on Yupo and supervise participants as they play with the media, all the while considering what makes a painting a painting. Participants are required to bring their own materials.

COOS BAY — Juror Robert Canaga is a prominent figure in the Eugene cultural scene. The past curator of the OPUS6IX Gallery, he is currently curator of The Gallery at the Watershed. He is past president of the Oregon Mozart Players Board, vice chair for Travel Lane County and owner of Robert Canaga Galleries in Portland and Eugene.

Coos Art Museum has been a cultural focal point of Oregon’s scenic Southern Coast since 1966. It occupies the historic 1936 Art Deco U.S. Federal Building in downtown Coos Bay. The museum offers a wide range of arts activities including exhibitions, art classes and lectures. Hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 1-4 p.m. Saturday. Museum admission: $5 general, $2 students, veterans and seniors, free to museum members.

Watercolors Selected for Upcoming Events

Two of my watercolor on Yupo paper paintings have been chosen for upcoming events.  Silver Falls was selected by juror Robert Canaga for inclusion in the Expressions West 2014 Show at the Coos Art Museum, Coos Bay, Oregon.  The opening reception and awards presentation will be at the museum on Friday, April 18 from 5:00-7:00pm.  The show runs from April 18 until June 28, 2014.   http://www.coosart.org

Blacklock Path was chosen for the Watercolor Society of Oregon’s 49th Aqueous Media Show at the Hillsboro Main Library, Hillsboro, Oregon.  The juror for the show is Robert Burridge.  The show will hang at the Hillsboro Library April 4 until May 4th when the show will move to Salem, Oregon.  From May 9 until June 28 the show will be displayed at the Bush Barn Center in Salem.  The show’s opening in Hillsboro will be part of the Watercolor Society of Oregon’s Spring Convention.  Details are in the February Watermark. http://www.watercolorsocietyoforegon.com/pdf/2014.02.Watermark.pdf
