Chestnut Tree

24 Aug

This is another of the “Iconic trees of the South Coast” painted with the Oregon Plein Air group.  This chestnut was so big that it was hard to get a good view of it.  I chose a spot along the path which went under the tree branches  and tried to capture the feeling of being close to such an iconic tree.  The sun came out as I painted, giving sparkle to the tree and my painting.  The Yupo paper allowed me to pick up the dark paint and flow in new colors as the lighting changed, enhancing the beauty of the tree.
