Silver Falls

23 Jan

Visiting the Golden and Silver Falls State Park was put on my “to do” list when I was contemplating a move to Oregon.  Because the park’s website describes it as ” a hidden gem in the dense coastal forests of southwest Oregon” with the last three miles “a one lane gravel road,” a dry sunny fall day was picked for the visit.  I was rewarded with the sunlight streaming through the falls illuminating the rocky cliff behind.  The rivulets at the base of the falls added more painterly interest as they found their way through the rocks and to the stream.  I have previously completed two watercolors from this trip, Neskia Gold and Zentangle Tree.  The light in Oregon’s dense coastal forests is amazing and challenging to capture in watercolor on Yupo paper.
