Lighthouse Trees 2

3 Jun

This is the second plein air piece done of trees near the Coquille River lighthouse at Bullard’s Beach. These old wind blown trees sit on top of a sandy hill near remnants of the old lighthouse keeper’s house. The first painting was done mid day. This was done late afternoon catching more golden light and deeper shadows.

Lighthouse Trees

31 May

This is a plein air piece done near the Coquille River lighthouse at Bullard’s Beach. Trees on top of a hill seem to have more character than those flat land or hillside trees. These show years of dealing with ocean storms while clinging to their sandy hill.

Gnarly Tree

29 Nov
We pass this gnarly tree when we walk along the cliff path
at Shore Acres State Park near Charleston, Oregon. It
stands facing the harsh elements from the ocean while its
back is protected by the mossy forest. It rests on this
sunny day in the blue glow from the sea.

Sunny’s Bridge

3 Aug

This is a plein air piece done at a friend’s farm on a beautiful day.  The sunlight filtered through the struts and vines on the beautiful covered walking bridge.  The painting only suggests the path on the far side, which leads through the flower and vegetable gardens, past the aviary and up to the house.  I am delighted that this painting has already found its home.

“Meet and Greet the Artists” at Second Street Gallery

30 Jul

Pat Cink is back with this summer’s “Meet and Greet the Artists” at Second Street Gallery in Bandon, Oregon. She will be at the gallery on Saturday and Sunday, August 1st and 2nd, from noon to 4:00 pm.

She will demonstrate her technique of using watercolor on Yupo paper and will offer visitors a chance to create their own miniature paintings. The synthetic Yupo paper allows watercolors to float and interact on the surface while retaining their fresh, rich colors. Pat will share her method in controlling this process in her creation of Bandon area seascapes and landscapes.

Pat also paints in soft pastels.  She finds that both the soft pastels and watercolor on Yupo paper allow a direct way of capturing the colors of coastal light in her landscapes.  Paintings in both media are on display at Second Street Gallery.  She will offer additional matted, unframed paintings during the “Meet an Greet.”
