Muriel’s Barn

1 Aug

I am sure the farmers had many practical concerns when building their barn and house, especially being in a river valley near the ocean, but the placement of these buildings has a lovely fit with the surrounding landscape.

Bullards Bridge

5 May

The sun peaked through a bit to give color to the grayness along the Coquille river. The thin watercolor washes settled in the large areas of this painting to give texture and pattern to the beach and river.

Cape Arago

Part of Cape Arago’s rocky headland protrudes darkly against the silvery green ocean on this overcast day.

Lavender and Gold Sea

14 Aug

Bandon sunsets offer an unending variety of colors, shapes and textures.  The lavender and gold sunset filtered through the clouds, ocean spray and rocks to crystallize on the waves and wet sand.  This watercolor on Yupo painting was started as a demonstration painting at Second Street Gallery’s “Meet and Greet the Artist” a few weeks ago.

The evening light and receding tide gave color and drama to the clouds showing between Face Rock Lookout and Cathedral Rock.  This small painting is entered in the Art by the Sea Gallery and Studio Miniatures and Small Works Exhibition.  Also entered are my recent paintings,  Coastal Wind and Path to Golden Falls.  The show is up during May and June, 2014.  The artist reception is Friday, May 9, from 5:30-8:00 pm at the Art by the Sea Gallery and Studio, 175 Second Street SE, Bandon, Oregon.
